PGA Tour golfer flexes hard after hitting shot (?) of the year

PGA Tour member Ben An is still revelling in the driver off the deck he hit on his way to winning the Genesis Championship in Korea.

PGA Tour golfer Ben An loves a driver off the deck.

But not everyone is a fan of An using the chief from the short stuff.

According to the man himself, the mere mention of the shot puts his caddie Justin on full alert.

That's because in August he posted this on his X account:

Over the weekend, An pulled off perhaps the shot of the year.

Or, at the very least, one of the top contenders.

What happened?

Last Sunday, An was attempting to reel in the leaders down the stretch of the Genesis Championship in South Korea.

By the time he reached the par-5 15th at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club in Incheon he was only two shots adrift of Tom Kim

He was some 290 yards away from the green after finding the fairway with his tee shot.

Making matters trickier was the water guarding the green.

No problem for An, though, as he dared to dream.

Just take a look at this beauty:

How?!

An went on to win the DP World Tour event, his first since the 2015 BMW PGA Championship, in a playoff over the aforementioned Kim.

Kim, it is claimed, later took out his frustration on his locker and knocked it off its hinges.

He is reportedly going to face disciplinary action.

Meanwhile, An has now updated his X post featuring U.S. gymnast Simone Biles:

Quite right.

What was the best golf shot of 2024?

Bryson DeChambeau's third into the 72nd hole of the U.S. Open at Pinehurst No.2 will be remembered for a very, very long time given what was at stake and what transpired moments before.

Rory McIlroy completely collapsed and handed DeChambeau the opportunity to snatch the title when it looked as though the chance had slipped through his fingers.

DeChambeau found trouble off the tee and could only advance his golf ball to the fairway bunker 50 yards from the green.

But he saved par to win by one.

He described his bunker recovery as 'the shot of my life' after holing a four-foot putt to win his second major title.

What do you think is the best golf shot of the year?
