PGA Tour fans have been reacting to Daniel Berger's rather arrogant comments about his game in relation to the opposition standing in his way ahead of the final round of the season-ending RSM Classic.

Berger finds himself just two shots off the pace in T3 heading into the final round of the PGA Tour season at Sea Island GC in Georgia.

The 31-year-old American is a four-time PGA Tour winner but his last victory now dates back to February 2021.

Berger also participated in both victorious 2017 U.S. Presidents Cup and 2021 U.S. Ryder Cup teams.

Berger's absence from the winners circle has largely been down to battling back from injury in 2022.

He suffered a brutal back injury that ruled him out of PGA Tour action for the best part of 19 months.

Once 12th in the world, Berger now finds himself down the pile at 222nd.

But Berger has fought back and managed to play a full season on the PGA Tour in 2024.

He's also not lost confidence or self-belief.

Far from it.

Although his comeback year has not gone particularly well by his own high standards with one top-10 finish all season, Berger is confident he can end 2024 in style in Georgia.

Particularly after shooting a superb 7-under 63 in the third round to vault him into contention for a fifth PGA Tour title at the RSM Classic.

He started the week outside the top 125 on the FedEx Cup Fall standings, but he is now projected to comfortably move just outside the top 100.

But Berger's comments after the third round have most certainly appeared to ruffle feathers with a lot of PGA Tour fans on social media.

Berger considers if he can play to his A-game in the final round at the RSM Classic then he should be able to get the job done.

"To me, it doesn't really concern me because when I play 1/10th of what I'm capable of, I'm at a level that's -- it's going to sound terrible, but I think I'm just at a different level than some of the other guys I'm competing against," said Berger ahead of the final round of the RSM Classic.

"Regardless, anytime you take two years off of anything competitive, it just takes a while to come back.

"I'm giving myself 12 more months to be where I want to be. Yeah, like it's not ideal to be in this position and I'd like to have won or whatever, but like I said, it's just challenging to take that amount of time off and expect to come back and be exactly where you were before."

Maverick McNealy and Vincent Whaley are both out in front on 14-under par heading into the final round of the RSM Classic.

Neither player has won on the PGA Tour.

They hold a two-shot cushion over Berger, two-time PGA Tour winner and 2016 RSM Classic champion Mackenzie Hughes, Michael Thorbjornsen and Patrick Fishburn.

Here's how a number of golf fans have reacted to Berger's comments:

Crikey, the absolute arrogance!

Way to be humble.

So he thinks he's 10x better than most tour pros. Ok.

He is good but this is Patrick Reed level stuff here lol. Gotta be confident I guess.

He was right. Sounded and is terrible.

When he says different level, I think he means worse.

If there’s one game that will humble you it’s golf, very bad take on his part. He’s never been close to the best in the world and even they know better than to belittle any opponent. Any pro golfer can beat you over 18 holes, especially at 10%.

Wow, that’s some confidence. But he needs it now, I guess.

1/10th? Really, I have never been overly impressed with him over the years.

This lack of self awareness is how below average players lose their tour card
