Hideki Matsuyama leads the Olympics Golf Competition

Japan's Hideki Matsuyama raced out the blocks on Thursday to take the early lead at the Men's Olympic Golf Competition but it's all to play for heading into the second round as players jostle for position before the weekend.

There is no halfway cut in the Olympic Golf Tournament so even if players do have an off day on Friday they are still very much in the race for a gold, silver or bronze on Sunday.

All 60 players remain in the same three-balls as the first round but the tee times are all different.

Of the pick of the early groups on Friday, look no further than Xander Schauffele, Viktor Hovland and Jon Rahm at 9.55am local time.

That is 8.55am for UK fans.

Schauffele is the defending champion and the red-hot two-time major champion is already bang in the mix to win another gold medal.

Overnight leader Matsuyama gets underway alongside Tommy Fleetwood and Wyndham Clark at 11.44am.

Then the star grouping of Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Ludvig Aberg tees off at 12.06pm.
