Ludvig Aberg gets snappy with question about his knee injury at the Memorial
PGA Tour star Ludvig Aberg is reportedly dealing with a partially torn meniscus in his left knee, but he did not want to talk any more about it at the Memorial Tournament.
PGA Tour star Ludvig Aberg had no interest in elaborating any further on his knee injury with a reporter following the second round of the Memorial Tournament.
Ahead of the US PGA Championship at Valhalla three weeks ago, Aberg, 24, confirmed to reporters his knee was feeling 'good' despite wearing a knee brace, and that he only withdrew from the Wells Fargo Championship a week before as a 'safety concern'.
Aberg went on to miss the cut in the season's second major, a far cry from his solo second on his major debut at The Masters in April.
According to Golf Channel reporter Todd Lewis at this week's Memorial Tournament, it has now come to light the European Ryder Cup hero has sustained a partial tear in the meniscus in his left knee.
It is understood Aberg picked up his knee injury while lifting in the gym.
When pressed by a reporter for comment on the state of his knee injury after carding a level-par 72 in the second round at the Memorial Tournament, Aberg, who says he still does not feel any pain on the course, was intent to shut the question down as a private matter.
Here's the reporter's exchange with Aberg:
Q. We heard that there's a diagnosis on the knee as a partial tear in the meniscus. Can you confirm that?
LUDVIG ÅBERG: What's that?
Q. Do you have a partial tear in the meniscus in the knee?
LUDVIG ÅBERG: I think that's between me and my doctors. It is what it is. It's between me and my doctors.
The knee appears to be holding in there nicely this week as Aberg finds himself at 4-under par in solo sixth thru 36 holes at Murifield Village.
Aberg is five shots behind runaway World No.1 Scottie Scheffler, who is going in search of a fifth win in his last eight starts on the PGA Tour.
