Justin Thomas has written a passionate letter to the PGA Tour's membership, urging golfers to do more to 'connect with the fans'.

A copy of the letter was obtained by The Athletic on 21 January.

Thomas, 31, explained that the Tour was 'incredibly lucky to have passionate people tuning in to watch us every week'.

Though he warned: "But let's be honest - this game can feel a little distant at times."

The two-time major champ claimed many believe 'telecasts can be better'.

"So let's help them do that," he wrote.

Thomas urged players to consider giving more pre-round and mid-round interviews, wear microphones and outline any swing changes they are undergoing.

"Believe me, I've been the first to say 'no' before things are even done being asked.

"I've had no interest in when someone asks for an interview mid-round or suggests trying something new.

"But I also know how much fans love those moments."

Thomas added: "I'm not asking anybody to be somebody they aren't or change anything in their routine that would affect their performance.

"Instead, just be open to possibilities and changes."

Thomas signed off his letter by saying 'we're all owners of this Tour'.

He was alluding to the fact the Strategic Sports Group have invested $1.5bn into the for-profit PGA Tour Investments.

A player equity program has also replaced the now-shuttered player impact program.

"Anybody who has any ideas or thoughts, please reach out to me or any of the Tour staff to get the ball rolling on ways we can make OUR Tour the best we possibly can," Thomas wrote.
