JT Poston captured his third career PGA Tour title at the Shriners Children's Open.

Poston, 31, closed with a round of 67 to see out a one-shot victory over Doug Ghim at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The American landed a first prize of $1.26m.

Poston's victory marks the first of his career as a father having welcomed baby girl Scottie into the world earlier this year with wife Kelly.

Poston finished the week on 22-under par, three shots shy of the tournament record.

He came back early on Sunday to finish off his third round and he made three birdies from the 14th to open up a three-shot lead heading into the final round.

Poston's lead was trimmed to one shot heading into the back nine by playing partner Ghim, but three birdies in the space of four holes from the 12th saw him once again put daylight between himself and the chasing pack.

He would hand back a shot at the par-3 17th when missing a tiddler for par, but Poston would hold his nerve down 18 to see out the win.

Ghim very nearly holed out his approach shot for eagle on 18 to force a playoff, but he would convert his five-footer for birdie to finish in solo second, marking his best finish on the PGA Tour.

Poston started the year brightly with consecutive top-six finishes on the PGA Tour.

But he endured something of a rough summer with three consecutive missed cuts and a pair of T33s entering the Shriners Children's Open.

Things turned around quickly for Poston at TPC Summerlin though, a course he already had good vibes on having finished third and fourth in previous years.

Poston was well and truly back to his best in Las Vegas with rounds of 64, 65, 66 and 67.

The win marks Poston's hat-trick on the PGA Tour.

He also won the 2019 Wyndham Championship and 2022 John Deere Classic.

Poston's latest victory hauls him back up into the world's top 50.

Germany's talented Matti Schmid matched his best finish on the PGA Tour with a tie for third alongside Rico Hoey on 19-under par.

Davis Thompson, KH Lee and Michael Kim, who closed with a brilliant 62, rounded out the top five on 18-under par.
