Jordan Spieth offers Jordan Spieth explanation to insane par save
PGA Tour star Jordan Spieth saved par in incredible fashion during the final round of the WM Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale.
Jordan Spieth says he 'stole one' after salvaging a par during the final round of the WM Phoenix Open when he was staring down the barrel of a double bogey or worse.
Spieth's escape act arrived on the par-4 11th at TPC Scottsdale.
The three-time major champion flared his tee shot right and his golf ball came to rest underneath a bush.
He thought about what to do for a few minutes, consulting his long-time looper Michael Greller, before reaching for his putter after deciding not to take an unplayable.
From there, Spieth went lefty and took a swat at the ball which he advanced 34 yards.

From 124 yards, Spieth hit his wedge to 13 feet and rolled in the putt for a par.
At the time, it kept him in contention as the American was attempting to chase down eventual champion Thomas Detry.
All he could do was smile.
"I couldn't get to it right-handed," Spieth told reporters of the par save after tying for third with Daniel Berger.

"It was going to be too hard. My hands were going to have to stop well short of the ball, and it wasn't until like the last second because I thought about left-handed, but I thought about left-handed with like an iron up to the side.
"It wasn't until the last second I was like, I've got a flat spot on the back of my putter I can at least nudge it up here, it's better than an unplayable, and dodged the bush."

He continued: "I somehow made par. That was a steal. One of the better pars I've ever made to be honest because just getting it up-and-down from that third shot, it's a one in 20, let alone kind of getting it to there.
"I was driving it really well up to that point, and unfortunately I didn't drive it well from there on in."
The 2025 WM Phoenix Open represented Spieth's second official start since undergoing wrist surgery last August.
"All in all, it was a big progress week for me," he said.
"I didn't feel like this was a one-off. It felt like this is just trending the right direction. I'm pretty realistic with myself on that.
"My expectations have been low, like I've mentioned. [I am] just trying to get a little bit better each time."
Spieth is in the field for the Genesis Invitational.
