Dave Portnoy labelled 'cruel' for comments about 'boring' golf journalist Dan Rapaport

Dave Portnoy was labelled 'cruel' after he described Dan Rapaport as 'boring' while he discussed his departure from Barstool Sports. 

Rapaport confirmed yesterday he was leaving Barstool Sports and Fore Play after two years with the company. 

The golf journalist had previously had stints at Golf Digest and Sports Illustrated. 

Rapaport said he had held discussions about renewing his contract but decided to follow his gut by forging his own path. 

Portnoy confirmed discussions were held with Rapaport's agents.

"But I wouldn't say that I treated that like I was trying to re-sign Patrick Mahomes," the American businessman told The Unnamed Show. 

Of Rapaport, Portnoy said: "Listen, I don't mean this disrespectfully. 

"I don't like Dan Rapaport but I don't not like Dan Rapaport. I have apathy towards Dan Rapaport. 

"I wish him well [and] I have absolutely no ill will to him. I would agree that Dan Rapaport is an unusual fit for us in the sense of he's boring.

"He came on through Fore Play. So Fore Play wanted him [and] he wanted to be there. 

"We would re-sign him and if he didn't he didn't."
