As things stand, we're looking at a projected cut of +3 with 74 players currently on that score.
Not that these fans seem to mind...
D. Brown -6 (2)
The surprise early leader has teed off and has started with two solid pars.
He's in trouble at the third after finding the bunker.
Brown, who has his brother Ben on the bag, knocks out sideways.
He has an outside chance to save par but it's looking like a dropped shot.
Spieth +1 (6)
Jordan Spieth can't take advantage of a glorious birdie opportunity at the par-5 6th.
Like Scheffler, he took the pin on and had 12 feet to claw back the shot he dropped two holes prior.
He groans loudly as his ball misses high.
M. Fitzpatrick +2 (7*)
Trouble for the 2022 US Open champion at the 7th.
He's in the fairway bunker and doesn't know what to do.
Pump it forwards? Sideways? Backwards?
He'll have a think with his caddie Billy Foster.
Scheffler -1 (6*)
Scheffler just played a superb bunker shot at the par-3 fifth, but couldn't salvage a par.
Can he bounce back with a birdie at the next?
He's playing his third from a great spot, 108 yards to the pin, but he makes the same mistake as Collin Morikawa and finds the bunker.
No wonder Scheffler's club was on the floor.
Work to do now to stay at 1-under.
Lowry -6 (7*)
Beautiful swing from Lowry, taking his driver down the right flank.
He's not sure about it in the air, but it finds the short stuff.
Former champion John Daly has withdrawn from The Open because of a knee injury.
You can read more about that here.
Daly has become the second senior player to withdraw, following Ernie Els' departure this morning.
T. Woods +11 (4)
It's been a tough day already for Woods, and things aren't getting any better with another bogey on the 4th hole.
While he's undoubtedly struggling, you can guarantee there is no lack of effort from the 15-time major champion. He won't want today to become embarrassing.
P. Cantlay E (4)
Two birdies and two pars today for Cantlay means he's now got it back to level par for the tournament.
Bar a wayward tee shot on the third, it's been typically solid golf from the Californian.
C. Conners -2 (13)
Conners secures his fourth birdie of the day and now sees himself join the crowded pack of players at 2-under.
The Canadian has had a great day and has five more holes to go to add some more red to his scorecard.
Cantlay snap-hooked his tee shot into the left rough on the 4th hole and offered up a pretty tame lift of the arm instead of shouting fore.
With the ball hurtling towards spectators, it would have been good to see the American being slightly more considerate of the safety of the fans.
C. Young +1 (1)
It was just the start Cam Young would have wanted as he saw his 11-foot birdie putt drop on the 1st hole.
His playing partners Scheffler and Spieth have to settle for pars, but still a solid start for both.
S. Lowry -6 (1)
The ideal start for Lowry as he makes a very comfortable birdie at the 1st hole.
He's now co-leading with Daniel Brown at 6-under.
M. Siem (E) 13
Sadly, all of Siem's hard work on the front nine is being eroded as he makes another bogey, this time coming on the 13th hole.
The popular German now moves back to level par for the tournament.
B. Koepka -1 (2)
It wasn't the start Koepka would have wanted with a bogey at the 1st, but he corrected his error instantly on the 2nd hole with an excellent birdie on the short par-4.
A sublime second shot meant it was a simple 6-footer for birdie, and the big-hitting American had no problem at all guiding the ball to the bottom of the hole.
B. Koepka E (1)
It was not the start Koepka wanted, as his approach shot on the 1st hole nestles down in a greenside bunker.
A plugged lie meant 50 feet was the best he could manage, and it was a two-putt for a bogey to start the American's second round.
T. Woods +8
Woods is welcomed with shouts and applause as he strides onto the 1st tee.
Currently +8, Woods will need a miracle if he's to make the cut today.
One thing is for sure, though, he will be well-supported for the full 18 holes.
Brooks Koepka, Hideki Matsuyama and Wyndham Clark all find the fairway with their tee shots on the 1st hole.
This group has some serious firepower, and they'll need to call upon all of their major experience to tame Troon today.
Both Matsuyama (+4) and Clark (+7) have their work cut out if they want to see the weekend, but Koepka (-1) is nicely positioned to take a run at the leaders today if he can get off to a hot start.
We’ve not long left to wait until the big names tee off.
Tiger Woods, Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay get underway in half an hour, then Scottie Scheffler joins Jordan Spieth and Cameron Young in an hour.
Fox Par (7)
New Zealand’s Ryan Fox has picked up a second birdie of the day at the 7th to move to level par.
That’s currently just inside the top 20.
Siem -2 (9)
It’s a first bogey of the day for Siem.
However, he’s having a day so far at 4-under par for the second round.
Best score on the course by a very long way right now.
