Golf fans stunned as outrageous new video emerges of Daniel Brown at The Open
English qualifier and major debutant Dan Brown stunned golf fans down the 18th at The Open Championship at Royal Troon.
Daniel Brown might be a relative unknown to many of you, but he's a man of the people. Reflected none better than his actions down the par-4 18th in the third round of The 152nd Open Championship.
Brown, 29, ripped a dart off the tee and then headed over to a group of fans who wanted a selfie with him before his second shot.
Most Tour pros would never consider stopping for a photo with fans when they are in competitive mode, especially down the final hole with a one-shot lead at The Open.
But Brown had other ideas.
Brown put out his cigarette in the deep rough down the 18th hole and then posed for a quick set of selfies with fans down the right flank.
Watch what happened here:
Unfortunately it proved an unlucky move for the English qualifier and major debutant.
As Brown got down to his golf ball, he found it lying right next to the bunker.
He had to stand in the bunker to play the shot with his ball close to waist height.
A similar issue faced him on the 1st hole, although that was nearer to knee height.
Brown chipped the ball back into the 18th fairway but he then found the greenside bunker with his third shot.
He splashed out to some 15 feet but failed to convert the putt.
It marked Brown's first double bogey of the week and sent him from one shot ahead to one shot behind Billy Horschel heading into the final round of The Open Championship.
Royal Troon was playing brutal on Saturday, in particular the back nine.
A number of players including Dustin Johnson, Justin Rose and Scottie Scheffler all admitted the inward nine in round three was the 'hardest ever faced' in their professional careers.
Brown is seeking to become the first player to win on their major debut since Keegan Bradley at the 2011 US PGA.
He booked his spot in The Open after coming through a qualifier at West Lancs earlier this month.
That was the same qualifier that LIV Golf's Sergio Garcia failed to come through.
At 3-under par for 54 holes, Brown finds himself in a tie for second alongside Sam Burns, Russell Henley, Thriston Lawrence, Justin Rose and Xander Schauffele.
World No.1 Scottie Scheffler is hot on their heels a further shot back on 2-under par.
Overnight leader Shane Lowry had a day to forget, especially on the back nine, but the 2019 Open champion remains in the hunt in solo ninth at 1-under par.
Lowry fumed at Saturday’s course setup.
Matt Jordan, Adam Scott and Justin Thomas then round out the top 10 at level par.
Despite making double on 18, it does mean Brown is out with two-time Masters champion Scheffler for the first time in his career.
Brown and Scheffler get their final rounds underway at 1.55pm local time.
