World No.1 Nelly Korda has been forced to withdraw from next week's Aramco Team Series presented by PIF – London after being bitten by a dog.
Korda, 25, confirmed the shock update via her Instagram Story.
The LPGA Tour superstar told how she was bitten by a dog while she was in Seattle last weekend.
Korda posted on Instagram:
"I regret to announce that I must withdraw from next week's Ladies European Tour tournament in London.
"On Saturday in Seattle, I was bitten by a dog and need time to receive treatment and recover fully.
"I apologize to the LET, the sponsors, and my fans for my absence.
"Thank you for your understanding, and I look forward to returning to the course soon."
The Ladies European Tour (LET) event is scheduled for 3-5 July at Centurion Club in England, featuring a strong field competing for both individual and team titles.
Among the competitors will be Team GB stars Charley Hull and Georgia Hall, alongside a host of LET and LPGA stars, including 18 Olympians.
The update will come as a big blow to tournament sponsors as well as English fans who were looking forward to watching this year's six-time LPGA Tour winner in action.
Korda became just the fourth player to win six times or more in a season on the LPGA Tour last month following victory at the Mizuho Americas Open at Liberty National Golf Club.
The American's other five other victories this season came at The Chevron Championship, T-Mobile Match Play, Ford Championship, Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship, and LPGA Drive On Championship.
Her victory at The Chevron marked her second career title to go alongside the 2021 Women's PGA.
Korda has won 14 times on the LPGA Tour.
Korda's form has somewhat dropped off in recent weeks, however, with missed cuts in the last two majors at the US Women's Open and Women's PGA.
She made a 10 on one hole in the US Women's Open and she was reduced to tears en route to carding an 81 in the PGA.
Korda's feat of six wins so far this season matches the feat of fellow runaway World No.1 Scottie Scheffler over on the PGA Tour in 2024.
Scheffler needs to win three of his remaining five tournaments on the circuit this season to match a record of nine wins in one PGA Tour season.
That is something that has only ever been achieved by two men - Tiger Woods (2000) and Vijay Singh (2004).
