Everyone makes same joke after this U.S. Women's Open tee shot

Golf fans watching the U.S. Women's Open were left stunned after Isi Gabsa's tee shot at Lancaster Country Club appeared to strike and kill a bird.

The par-3 12th hole at Lancaster Country Club has already seen all sorts of carnage at the 2024 U.S. Women's Open.

First of all we saw world number one Nelly Korda come unstuck, making a catastrophic 10 (!) on the way to an 80 in round one of the major.

Korda shrugged it off as just a bad day at the office.

Another player in the field, German Isabell Gabsa, fared much better than Korda.

And her opening 73 also contained a remarkable moment at the very same hole.

Gabsa made a par on the hole, two-putting from 21 feet.

In fact she was one of the few players to actually find the dancefloor.

But her tee shot struck and appeared to kill a bird.

The moment was clipped and re-shared on X by golf reporter Patrick McDonald.

A USGA official was spotted on the broadcast scooping up the poor bird up and taking it away.

Animal lovers, look away now:

Of course, the moment left golf fans on X making the same joke: "It's definitely not a birdie hole."

Another added: "That's lunch sorted at the turn."

By day's end it was Japan's Yuka Saso who held the lead after 18 holes.

Saso was the only player in the field to break par, carding a two-under 68.

England's Charley Hull, who divided opinion by ripping a dart as she signed autographs at the beginning of the week, was tied for 66th after opening the major with a 75.
