Some players have work to do if they are to avoid relegation from the LIV Golf League

Heading into the final regular event of the season in Chicago, nine players currently occupy the drop zone.

Players who finish 49th and below will be booted out of the league and will have to attempt to regain their spot via LIV's Q-School event later in the year or convince another team to give them a contract.

Of the players currently in the drop zone, three are exempt from relegation.

Captains or players with remaining years on their contract are exempt from relegation, meaning RangeGoats skipper Bubba Watson and wildcards Anthony Kim and Hudson Swafford can breath easy.

Here are the players in danger of losing their spots

Bubble boys:

47. Harold Varner III

48. Pat Perez

In the drop zone:

49. Scott Vincent

Only the top 24 players in each tournament receive points.

Jon Rahm's Legion XIII teammate, Scott Vincent, has only collected 5.9 points this season.

If he were to collect just two points this weekend, then his fate would be out of his hands as he would be relying on Pat Perez to finish outside of the points.

He'll be hoping he can finish higher up the leaderboard to avoid that scenario.

50. Branden Grace

Grace has more than a three-point gap to make up if he wants to leapfrog Pat Perez in the standings.

If he were to finish 15th he would do that.

But the problem for the South African is he's only had two top-20 finishes all season.

Something special is required.

53. Kalle Samooja

Samooja was one of three players who earned their spot in the league for 2024 with a dramatic playoff victory over Laurie Canter in a playoff.

Now he is in danger of having to earn his spot back.

The Finn needs a minimum of 14th this week.

Either that or rely on Perez, Grace and Scott Vincent to slip up.

54. Kieran Vincent

Live his brother, Kieran has been poor this year by collecting a mere 2.47 points.

A finish of 13th would give him enough points to leapfrog Perez but it remains to be seen whether that would even be good enough.
