Phil Mickelson's LIV Golf team make huge change after legal row
Phil Mickelson's LIV Golf team have unveiled a refresh to their branding after the HyFlyers were sued for copyright infringement.
Phil Mickelson's LIV Golf team have now changed their logo after an apparel company sued the HyFlyers, alleging copyright infringement.
It was reported in June Mickelson was facing a legal headache after Cool Brands Supply - the Argentine company which owns the intellectual property rights to Fallen - claimed the logo is "nearly identical" to the one they've had for 20 years.
The federal lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court in New Jersey.
Attorneys for Fallen demanded the HyFlyers stop using the logo as it was reportedly confusing their customers.
Both Fallen and the HyFlyers include a reflected pair of F's with a black and white colourway.
The company were upset that Mickelson wore the logo at the 2023 Masters which was broadcasted to 'millions of consumers worldwide'.
Attorneys for the company also citied concerns with LIV Golf's ties to Saudi Arabia. The Kingdom's vast Public Investment Fund bankrolls the league.
An extract from the filing stated: "Plaintiff has already received numerous customer comments and complaints regarding a supposed affiliation with Defendants, some of which are critical of Plaintiff in light of Defendants' reputation as an effort to distract from their funding monarchy's human rights abuses and cleanse Saudi Arabia's repressive global image."
Here's a look at the logos:
The HyFlyers confirmed their 'refresh' for 2024 with a video posted on X, shortly after Andy Ogletree was confirmed as the newest recruit to the team.
Mickelson's team also includes former PGA Tour players Brendan Steele and Cameron Tringale.
