Phil Mickelson announces latest LIV Golf signing
Phil Mickelson has confirmed Andy Ogletree will be joining his HyFlyers team for the 2024 LIV Golf League, which kicks off next February.
Phil Mickelson has revealed Andy Ogletree will join his HyFlyers team for the 2024 LIV Golf season.
Mickelson confirmed the news on 19 December and posted a video on X to welcome the former U.S. Amateur champion to the side.
Brendan Steele and Cameron Tringale are the other two members in Mickelson's side. "Let's fly and go," he said.
They previously had another U.S. Amateur champion, James Piot, on their roster but the young golfer got relegated.
Ogletree earned his spot back on the Saudi-backed league by flourishing on the Asian Tour.
The 25-year-old won the International Series' order of merit. He won in Oman and England, as well as posting five top-10 finishes.
If the name sounds familiar, it's because he played in the inaugural LIV Golf event at Centurion Club last June.
He finished dead and was ridiculed for posting a 24-over par total.
Opening up on what that was like, Ogletree recently told Eurosport: "I have taken enough backlash from playing in the first LIV event.
"People have sent me hateful things, basically every day for months I have got a crazy amount of backlash just for playing in a golf tournament.
"Every day when I opened my phone on Twitter, there was this crazy amounts of tags and comments, just hateful things and I just got tired of seeing it."
Ogletree previously explained when he played in the first LIV event he had nowhere else to play.
"I did not choose a path," he said. "I just chose to play in a golf tournament."
Assessing his future, he added: "Growing up the PGA Tour is where I wanted to play.
"I would still love to play on the PGA Tour. I would love to play the LIV tour. I would love to play anywhere. I just want to play golf."
