A leaked image appears to confirm Cameron Smith will welcome fellow Australian Lucas Herbert to the lucrative LIV Golf League.
A leaked image appears to confirm Cameron Smith will welcome fellow Australian Lucas Herbert to the LIV Golf League.
Herbert was spotted in Mayakoba, Mexico, alongside the former Open champion in the Ripper colours.
The golfer, 28, is a three-time winner on the DP World Tour. He also has one PGA Tour victory to his name.
His most recent win came when he captured the ISPS Handa Championship in Japan last April.
Herbert will join teammates Marc Leishman and Matt Jones for the 2024 campaign.
Smith has been trying to poach Herbert for a while after failed attempts to land higher-profile Australian golfers Adam Scott and Jason Day for the all-Australian outfit.
Both Scott and Day have appeared to be open to the idea of switching to LIV Golf.
For his part Day has stated a renewed enthusiasm for the game and a somewhat ambitious desire to become the World No.1 once again has prevented him from leaving the PGA Tour.
Scott, despite previously joking that Smith should make him an offer, is now member of the PGA Tour's policy board.
The former Masters champion has been working with the likes of Tiger Woods, Patrick Cantlay and Jordan Spieth to help ratify the 'framework agreement' that will align the commercial interests of the DP World Tour, LIV Golf and the PGA Tour.

It is not known how much Herbert's contract with LIV is worth.
Another new recruit, Tyrrell Hatton, has reportedly been paid £50m to join LIV.
Herbert is coming into the 2024 season after a frustrating year on the course.
Things got so bad Herbert decided to take a two-month hiatus from the game.
It got to the point, Herbert previously said, that he would be waiting at the airport ready to travel to an event and would be privately wishing his flight would be cancelled.
The golfer said he turned into an unpleasant person to be around. Read more about that here.
It appears Herbert has now turned a corner and is ready for a new chapter in his life.
