Tour pro daggers LIV Golf after watching Matthieu Pavon's tearful interview
English tour pro Eddie Pepperell couldn't help himself but dagger LIV Golf after seeing an emotional Matthieu Pavon claim his maiden win.
English tour pro Eddie Pepperell, one of LIV Golf's biggest critics, couldn't help himself after Matthieu Pavon claimed his maiden victory on the DP World Tour on his 185th start.
Pavon breezed to his breakthrough victory on the European-based circuit at the Open de Espana in Madrid over the weekend.
In the immediate aftermath of his win, he broke down in tears as he spoke of his late grandfather.
Pavon began the final round with a two-stroke lead and raced out of the gates, making birdie in four of his opening seven holes.
By the time he had reached the 72nd hole, he was able to enjoy a stress-free walk up No. 18 at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid.
Utterly overcome with emotion, Pavon said: "He is up there. I think he will be very proud."

Pepperell decided to tag LIV Golf into that video after the official account posted a clip of Brooks Koepka being told he had won a $4m bonus for finishing third in the individual standings.
"Here's something truly meaningful," he wrote.
Koepka had the most nonchalant response to the news and it angered some golf fans, with some describing the clip as 'grim' and 'obscene'.
Last week Pepperell also thought it was amusing to see LIV Golf were officially denied world ranking points.
The Englishman reacted the only way he knew how:
Tough day for the LIV golfers, knowing they will be unable to earn world ranking points .
Fear not though fellas, life goes on. I would know.— Eddie Pepperell (@PepperellEddie) October 10, 2023
