WATCH: Rory McIlroy leaves commentators nearly speechless with INSANE par save!
Rory McIlroy managed to save par in ridiculous fashion during the opening round of the PGA Tour's Waste Management Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale.
Rory McIlroy added another spectacular shot to his already impressive highlight reel.
The scene? TPC Scottsdale during the opening round of the PGA Tour's Waste Management Phoenix Open.
McIlroy, 33, began the elevated event on the back nine and was struggling to get any momentum going early doors.
Two birdies and two bogeys meant he turned in level par. He dropped a shot at the par-4 first (his 10th) but the second hole is where things got interesting.
According to Shot Tracker, McIlroy sent his drive with his TaylorMade Stealth Plus 337 yards way, way right into the native area.
His TP5x settled perilously close to a metal fence. In fact, it was probably about a yard from his golf ball.
There were no dramas though as the four-time major champion manufactured an escape Houdini would've been proud of.
From 125 yards, McIlroy found the green then two-putted his way to a safe par.
McIlroy spent the earlier part of the week explaining why he believes he's the best player in the world.
Jon Rahm and Scottie Scheffler have the opportunity to overtake McIlroy at the top spot but it's fair to say the Ulsterman has the juices flowing.

Carnage at No. 16
TPC Scottsdale, as you will likely know if you're here, is home to the famous par-3 16th.
Thousands of fans cram into the amphitheatre to drink ridiculous amounts of beer and let the players know exactly what they think each tee shot.
Earlier, the crowd got rowdy but not in the ways you might imagine.
PGA Tour pro Keith Mitchell will want to forget this moment in a hurry as he hit what appeared to be a semi-shank. Into the crowd.
