PGA Tour pro Tony Finau couldn't resist almost leathering his opening tee shot at the Cadence Bank Houston Open just like Happy Gilmore.

The PGA Tour had actor Christopher McDonald introducing players on the first tee at the Cadence Bank Houston Open and Tony Finau simply couldn't resist pretending to leather one just like Happy Gilmore.

We have seen some pretty amusing things on the first tee this year. Think back to Brooks Koepka being announced as Bruce Koepka before he joined LIV.

Or perhaps Justin Thomas being announced as Justin Thompson before the third round of the U.S. Open at The Country Club at Brookline.

This involving Finau was pretty amusing. Take a look for yourself here:

WATCH:

Finau is playing his second event of the fall swing, having missed the cut last week at the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba which was won by Russell Henley.

He had a strong finish to the back end of last season having won the Rocket Mortgage Classic and the 3M Open.

By day's end it was Sweden's Alex Noren who started the quickest in this $8.4m event.

Noren carded an opening round of 5-under 65 at Memorial Park Golf Course. Noren made seven birdies and two bogeys.

He said:

"[I] didn't feel great in practice, but found something and got the irons a lot better. So yeah, good. Overall, I would have taken 65."

Perhaps one of the most surprising pieces of news from day one came in the form of Sam Burns carding an opening round of 7-over 77

Burns had as many as eight bogeys and a solitary birdie on a disastrous day.

Elsewhere, England's Justin Rose found himself inside the top-10 following an opening 3-under 67.
