Tiger Woods' authority felt as PGA Tour makes radical (!) 2024 schedule changes
The PGA Tour will return to a calendar-year season for the first time in 2024, with only four of 12 signature events retaining a 36-hole cut.
Only four PGA Tour signature events in 2024 will retain a 36-hole cut, according to a report.
Golfweek claim to have obtained an early copy of next year's PGA Tour schedule, which is scheduled for release on 8 August.
The publication claim only four of the 12 signature events will retain a cut at the halfway stage.
Signature events, featuring fields of up to 80 players, were previously referred to as elevated or PGA Tour designated events.
The events feature bumper prize purses of up to $20m. The concept of the tournaments were first announced last August amid LIV Golf disruption.

It was hoped the bumper prize purses would prevent the game's biggest stars from bolting to their Saudi-backed rival.
According to Golfweek, the four tournaments that will keep cuts are:
- The Players Championship
- Genesis Invitational
- Memorial Tourmanent
- Arnold Palmer Invitational
It is unsurprising TPC Sawgrass retains a cut, given the stop is referred to as golf's fifth major.
Tiger Woods serves as tournament host at the Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club.
Woods, 47, this week joined the PGA Tour's policy board with a warning men's professional golf was at a 'critical point'.
It is clear Woods thinks that cuts are important, given that he regards his streak of making 105 consecutively as one of his biggest achievements in the game.

Jack Nicklaus, tournament host of the Memorial, has also expressed concern about the direction the tour is heading in.
The Golden Bear suggested the tour's new schedule would result in the circuit splitting into two tiers.
Golfweek report the fields of the signature events will feature a maximum of 80 players with the cut to 50 and ties.
Tournaments that will now not have a cut from 2024 are:
- AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am
- RBC Heritage
- Wells Fargo Championship
- Travelers Championship
The 2024 season will see the PGA Tour revert back to a calendar-year season for the first time in more than a decade.
Overall, there will be 39 regular season events with a further eight in the postseason playoffs.
