Rory McIlroy passed Dustin Johnson on THIS all-time PGA Tour list!
Rory McIlroy has broken into the top three of an incredible list.
Rory McIlroy may be without a win after countless chances over the past few weeks, but that doesn't mean these results have been for nothing.
In fact, with his tie for seventh at this past week's Travelers Championship in Connecticut, McIlroy has officially moved past Dustin Johnson in one of the PGA Tour's all-time lists.
McIlroy, 34, already has a win this season on the PGA Tour at the CJ Cup. However, that tournament was contested all the way back in October 2022, and the Northern Irishman has been win-less since.
Still, he continues to come painfully close to grabbing the 24th PGA Tour title of his career, with top-10 finishes in each of his last five starts dating back to the PGA Championship in mid-May.
Thanks to the introduction of the designated events on the PGA Tour this year and increased purses at the major championships, those past five starts have accounted for an increase of $4.26m in earnings for McIlroy.
The US Open runner-up from just over a week ago accounted for half of that, as a solo-second earned him $2.16m from the $20m purse.
Through 13 events in total during the 2022-23 campaign, McIlroy has added $9,644,758 to his career earnings.
That number, which includes the $650,000 from Sunday's finish at the Travelers, has been enough to move him past Johnson on the PGA Tour's career earnings list.
McIlroy now has a career total of $75,819,307 on the PGA Tour, narrowly edging Johnson by $401,470 as he sits at $75,417,837.
Johnson, 39, turned professional the same year as McIlroy but has one more PGA Tour win than him.
His PGA Tour earnings number has struggled to grow since he joined LIV Golf in 2022. Since then, only his results in majors add to that number.
Ahead of McIlroy, who now sits in third, is another LIV Golf player in Phil Mickelson.
Mickelson, 53, won 45 times during his PGA Tour career. As a result, he's earned $96,572,310.
Ahead of him is 82-time PGA Tour winner Tiger Woods at an incredible $120,954,766.
