PGA Tour: How much did each player win at The Players Championship?
Cameron Smith took home the biggest ever winners prize on the PGA Tour by winning The Players Championship in a shakey finish at TPC Sawgrass.
The largest purse in the history of the PGA Tour lured the best players in the world to The Players Championship and what an extraordinary week it was.
Cameron Smith was made to wait until Monday evening to seal the victory and win $3.6 million, the largest winners prize in the history of the sport.
Anirban Lahiri led after 54-holes by one shot and after Smith made a bogey on the 72nd hole, the Indian had a chance to force a playoff but he couldn't chip in for birdie.
Nonetheless, Lahiri missed three of his last four cuts heading to TPC Sawgrass last week, and the $2.2 million runner-up prize should soften the blow of falling at the final hurdle.
Lee Hodges finished in last place on 9-over-par but he still took home a cheque of $41,000. The total purse was increased at The Players by the PGA Tour at the end of 2021 to $20 million.
