Jason Day withdraws from Bay Hill after his mother loses her battle with cancer
Jason Day's mother Dening has sadly passed away. Our thoughts are with the Day family at this difficult time.
Jason Day has withdrawn from this week's Arnold Palmer Invitational after sadly losing his mother to cancer.
Day withdrew from the tournament at Bay Hill on Wednesday afternoon and he then took to his social media channels to reveal his tragic news.
In early 2017, Day's mother, Dening, was diagnosed with Stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer.
"Last night, my mum peacefully left us after battling cancer for five years," Day captioned his Instagram post.
"We are heart broken but incredibly grateful for the gift we had in her living with us for the last almost two years full time.
"She fought so hard until the very last breath. I am forever indebted to her for the sacrifices she made for me to be successful, and for the person she helped me to become.
"We will miss her so much."
Our thoughts are very much with Jason Day and his family and friends at this difficult time.
RIP Dening

Day is currently ranked 92nd in the world.
The Australian showed us glimpses of what he used to be capable of at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am earlier this year.
He was well in contention down the stretch but in the end Tom Hoge claimed his first PGA Tour win.
The last time he won a PGA Tour event was at the 2018 Wells Fargo Championship.
