Golf Betting Tips: Cameron Young to finally win at Rocket Mortgage Classic?
Cameron Young, Patrick Cantlay and Will Zalatoris are among the headline names to be teeing it up at the Rocket Mortgage Classic this week in Detroit.
GolfMagic didn't taste any betting success at The 150th Open Championship with Patrick Cantlay being our closest call in tied 8th place. After the heroics of Tony Finau at last week's 3M Open, he will be back looking for his fourth PGA Tour title at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in a strong field at Detroit Golf Club. Andy and Matt have four fresh selections for the action this week, with one bold 40/1 call.
Many of the world's top players who teed it up at The 150th Open Championship will return to the PGA Tour this week to play at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, in the same week of the third LIV Golf Invitational in Bedminster.
Patrick Cantlay is the highest ranked player in the world appearing at Detroit Golf Club this week. Cameron Young came second at St Andrews two weeks ago and he is still looking for his first win on the world's premier circuit.
Will Zalatoris, Kevin Kisner, Max Homa, Tony Finau and Adam Scott are among the other notable names in the field this week for the penultimate event of the regular season.
In 2021, the Australian Cam Davis secured his first PGA Tour win at this event by beating Troy Merritt in a dramatic five-hole playoff.
Take a look below at our best bets for the action this week at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
Patrick Cantlay played impressively at The 150th Open, coming tied eighth which was his ninth top-10 in 16 starts on the PGA Tour this year. He has lost in playoffs at the RBC Heritage and the WM Phoenix Open and won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans alongside Xander Schauffele. The World No.4 is ranked fourth in birdie average and eighth in scoring average in 2022 which shows how solid he has been in the last seven months.
Cameron Young has finished second four times this season on the PGA Tour and he is the frontrunner to become the Rookie of the Year. He played superbly in Scotland last week and pushed Cameron Smith all the way to his final putt. He is ranked second in strokes gained off the tee and ninth in birdie average in 2022, and his first win will only be around the corner.
Much like Young, Will Zalatoris has played superbly in his short but promising PGA Tour career but he is yet to win. He has come second on three occasions this season, losing in playoffs at the US PGA Championship and the Farmers Insurance Open. He is ranked sixth in greens in regulation on the PGA Tour in 2022 and he is 12th in stroke average too.
Much like the above three players, it is incredible how Sahith Theegala hasn't won on the PGA Tour this season. He squandered great chances to break his duck at the WM Phoenix Open and the Travelers Championship while competing against the likes of Xander Schauffele and Scottie Scheffler. The 24-year-old has earned just over $2.5 million on his debut season on tour.
