Billy Horschel: "Should have never of left a partner of the PGA Tour"
Billy Horschel was not happy ahead of the Genesis Scottish Open this week.
Billy Horschel's week in Scotland did not get off to the best start on Monday.
The seven-time PGA Tour winner has made the trip across the Atlantic Ocean this week for the Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick.
It's the second running of the event since it became co-sanctioned by both the DP World Tour and PGA Tour, scheduled just a week before the 151st Open Championship at Royal Liverpool.
The field for this week's tournament is made up of primarily half PGA Tour and half DP World Tour players. Xander Schauffele won it last year by one stroke over Kurt Kitayama.
Horschel missed the cut at the 2022 tournament after rounds of 75 and 70.
This season, the American has struggled to find his groove, missing eight cuts in 18 events.
His last top-10 finish - of which there are two so far this season - came all the way back in April at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
Following a missed cut at the Travelers Championship, the 36-year-old took the past two weeks off before flying to Edinburgh Airport on Monday.
It was there that Horschel's week started off on a tough note after he tweeted that the car rental company he was planning to use had refused to give him a vehicle because of his profession.
Tagging the company in question and blasting the 'dumb policy', he wrote:
See here:
Hey @SixtUK @SixtUSA,
I’ve rented cars probably 15+ times over the last 2 years from you all and now you tell me/decide that you don’t rent cars to professional athletes as I’m trying to grab my car from Edinburgh Airport. Wow. . What a dumb policy.— Billy Horschel (@BillyHo_Golf) July 10, 2023
He then followed it up with a second tweet shortly after, as it appears a different company saved the day.
Thanks @avis for helping out. Should have never of left a partner of the PGA Tour. Lesson learned!

The silver lining, as Golf.com's Claire Rogers pointed out, is it does help the argument that professional golfers are high-level athletes.
This is a bummer but also huge for the “golfers are athletes” movement https://t.co/sqyK3iMixt

Horschel replied, calling it a "great point."
Thankfully, it seems Horschel was able to get to North Berwick despite his car rental troubles.
Hopefully he has better luck at the tournament than he did at the airport.
