Paige Spiranac reminds us all one very important thing before The Open

Paige Spiranac makes a very valid point ahead of The Open. Agreed?

Paige Spiranac reminds us all one very important thing before The Open

Golf social media sensation Paige Spiranac has provided an annual reminder to her followers that it's The Open and NOT The British Open taking place at Royal Liverpool this week.

Spiranac, 30, made her yearly reminder in her latest video for PointsBet, which is one of a number of companies where she is an ambassador in 2023. Another is Shot Scope

The majority of British golf fans call it The Open, while those across the pond typically like to call it The British Open.

You will likely hear a number of Tour pros who are teeing it up at Royal Liverpool this week, especially the Americans, call it The British Open.

Even Australia's defending champion Cameron Smith called it The British Open during his pre-tournament press conference on Monday.

Smith only referred to 'The Open' when speaking about his home Australian Open.

But Paige is having none of it...

In her latest post, Spiranac said:

"Hello everyone, major season in golf is sadly coming to an end with The Open this week, and your yearly reminder to say The Open and not The British Open or else you'll make a golf purist's mind explode.
"But let's preview. They're going to be playing at Royal Liverpool, it's a par 72 playing 7347 yards. Cameron Smith is the defending champion. Some notable winners at Royal Liverpool was Rory McIlroy in 2014 and Tiger Woods in 2006.
"It's going to be a great week. I want to hear from you. Who do you think is going to win? Comment down below, I'll be giving my picks on Wednesday. I am on a massive heater right now so you might want to listen to my picks."

Spiranac recently tipped up both Rickie Fowler to win the Rocket Mortgage Classic and Rory McIlroy to win the Scottish Open.

Rory and Rickie incidentally finished 1-2 last time out when The Open was staged at Royal Liverpool in 2014.

Let's see if Paige can make it three in a row at The Open?!
