OUTRAGE: Trans female golf coach "ABUSED and THREATENED" at The Open
Trans woman leaves Royal St George's after being "abused and threatened" by supposed golf fans at The Open...
A trans female golf coach who was working at The Open in the 'Swing Zone' at Royal St George's today was reportedly "abused and threatened" before deciding to leave the venue completely as a result.
The incident was reported on Twitter by TV producer and director Nick German.
Appalled to hear that a transfemale golf coach who was working at The Open in the Swing Zone helping fans with their golf has been abused and threatened whilst out on the course and has sadly but understandably felt it necessary to leave RSG.
Golf and its fans must do better.— Nick German (@NickGerman1) July 17, 2021
"Appalled to hear that a transfemale golf coach who was working at The Open in the Swing Zone helping fans with their golf has been abused and threatened whilst out on the course and has sadly but understandably felt it necessary to leave RSG," read German's tweet.
"Golf and its fans must do better."
We completely agree with German's tweet and are disgusted to hear this has happened today.
Here's how others have been reacting to the shocking news:
Wonderful that the R&A have embraced her and been inclusive. Fantastic that she has this opportunity (no more or less fantastic than anyone else who has this opportunity though)
But until the sport is truly inclusive and this sort of thing doesn’t happen, then it can do better.— Nick German (@NickGerman1) July 17, 2021
Shocking !!! Hopefully the “idiots” have been removed from the course…..

“Golf and its fans …. “
I think more accurately “The Whole Of Society” would be more accurate, not sure Gilf needs highlighting
It could have happened at the local supermarket and probably will i. the coming week sadly.— Coeur de glace (@Wakster0511) July 17, 2021
I think golf and it’s fans in general are quite brilliant to be honest. I think the individuals in this case must do better. They certainly don’t represent golf fans in general. But yes, disgusting for her to experience that.

Terrible behaviour, those responsible should be banned from all events
