Golf Betting Tips: Matt Fitzpatrick to continue the dream at Open Championship?
Matt Fitzpatrick is one of the most in-form players on the PGA Tour, but as we have seen down the years, The Open Championship is a very unpredictable event.
The Open Championship is finally upon us and sadly, the landmark 150th anniversary marks the final major of the season. Andy kept up GolfMagic's great run of betting form at the Genesis Scottish Open by picking out Xander Schauffele to secure his seventh PGA Tour win. He and Matt are on a hot streak of profit and they are back with four fresh selections for the event at the home of golf this week.
The 150th Open Championship is one day away. After all of the ceremonies, the past champions' events and vital practice rounds, one player will hoist the Claret Jug at St Andrews on Sunday.
1999 Open champion Paul Lawrie will have the honour of hitting the opening tee shot at 6.35 am on Thursday morning alongside Webb Simpson and Min Woo Lee.
Three-time Open winner Tiger Woods will be teeing it up at 2.59 pm with US Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick and four-time PGA Tour winner Max Homa in what is a marquee group.
World No.1 and Masters champion Scottie Scheffler is playing with Tyrrell Hatton and Joaquin Niemann at 1.26 pm while defending champion Collin Morikawa will play with Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele at 9.58 am in the first round.

Xander Schauffele produced a very disciplined and calm finish on Sunday to win the Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club. He is now a seven-time PGA Tour winner after also winning the Travelers Championship at the end of June. The World No.5 is ranked fifth in total strokes gained and fourth in birdie average on tour in 2022, so his statistics speak for themselves.
Patrick Cantlay came tied fourth at the Genesis Scottish Open last week and this was his eighth top-10 in 15 starts on tour this season. He hasn't won yet in 2022, but he has lost in playoffs at the WM Phoenix Open and the RBC Heritage. He is ranked fifth in birdie average and he is fifth in the FedEx Cup rankings, so the 30-year-old is having another great season.
Matt Fitzpatrick secured another top-10 finish at The Renaissance Club last week which was his first start since winning the US Open in Brookline. It is very hard to look away from the Englishman who has already earned $6,373,686 in 2022. This has come by with nine top-10s in 16 events on the PGA Tour. With his direct style of play and whippy swing, he is riding on a huge wave of confidence right now.
Danny Willett has a respectable record at The Open Championship, making top-35 finishes in each of his last three starts including a tied sixth finish in 2019. He won the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in 2021 and he also came second in 2010, so the 34-year-old has a great record at the home of golf too. The former Masters champion finished tied 12th at Augusta in April and I think 150/1 is a huge each-way price.
