Tiger Woods drops clues for Presidents Cup pairings
Tiger Woods has dropped some major clues about who he intends on pairing together for the Presidents Cup.
With the Presidents Cup just a week away, Tiger Woods is currently hosting the Hero World Challenge at the Albany Golf Club in the Bahamas and it seems that the playing captain has dropped a big hint over who he plans on pairing together against Ernie Els' Rest of the World side in Melbourne.
The total prize pot this week is $3.5 million, with 18 players competing, all invited to play by the tournament host Woods.
Last year it was Jon Rahm who won the event and the Spaniard returns this week to defend his title. Dustin Johnson pulled out of the tournament due to injury but insisted he will be fit for the Presidents Cup, meaning 11 of the 12 players for Team USA are competing in the Bahamas.
As tournament host, Woods got to select the pairings for the Hero World Challenge and it seems as though we might be looking at a the potential pairings for the Presidents Cup.
The pairings for this week's Hero World Challenge are as follows:
*competing in the Presidents Cup
10.40am: Justin Rose / Jon Rahm
10.51am: Kevin Kisner / Bubba Watson
11.02am: Xander Schauffele* / Gary Woodland*
11.13am: Bryson DeChambeau* / Webb Simpson*
11.24am: Patrick Reed* / Patrick Cantlay*
11.35am: Tiger Woods* / Justin Thomas*
11.46am: Rickie Fowler* / Tony Finau*
11.57am: Chez Reavie / Matt Kuchar*
12.08pm: Henrik Stenson / Jordan Spieth
Chez Reavie has been brought in to replace Johnson, meaning it is likely that DJ will be playing alongside Matt Kuchar in Melbourne next week, while Rickie Fowler, who has replaced an injured Brooks Koepka for Team USA, has been paired with big-hitting Tony Finau.
It will certainly be interesting to see exactly how the pairings line up in Melbourne as Tiger Woods' USA side take on Ernie Els' Rest of the World side.
