Kang wins Byron Nelson but gets called out by Every for slow play
Matt Every doesn't hold back on Sung Kang's slow play...
Sung Kang may have won his maiden PGA Tour title at the Byron Nelson on Sunday, but he did so playing like a tortoise in the eyes of final-round playing partner and eventual runner-up Matt Every.
Kang, 31, closed with a 67 to seal a two-stroke victory over Every and Scott Piercy at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, Texas.
But it was the South Korean's shocking pace of play - which saw his pre-shot routine run close to 90 seconds - that drew the biggest headlines.
Following the stoppage of third-round play on Saturday, Every, who played all four rounds with Kang, let his feelings known in a frank interview with Golf Channel.
“We got into a nice rhythm, we didn’t have to wait on the group in front of us once I think, which was kinda nice," said Every.
"Sung decided he wanted to play slow today. So when we got to our balls, we got to hit, there was no wait, which was nice.”
At the 16th, Every even whipped out a chair on the fairway to wait for Kang!
