Justin Thomas shares cancer scare as a warning to all golfers
Justin Thomas shared his cancer scare on Instagram as a message to all golfers to be careful when playing in the sun regularly.
As golfers, we all spend a lot of time out in the sun, especially the professionals out on the PGA Tour playing in the heat of America every week. It's always important to make sure that you are always applying sun cream/block, as regular sun can be harmful to your skin. Justin Thomas recently shared a message on Instagram, warning his followers to take care of themselves out in the sun, as he recently revealed he had a small mole on his left leg that developed into the early stages of the melanoma.
Thomas, the 2017 PGA Championship winner and current world no.5, had the mole removed from his leg, but wanted to share his story on Instagram so that others would take more care of their skin and get checkups if they are slightly worried about anything. The message read:
I recently had a scare at the dermatologist where a very small mole on my left leg was caught in the early stages of melanoma. Luckily, we found it at a time where there should be no problems going forward. That being said, EVERYBODY GO GET CHECKED!! No harm can come from it and it’s the best way to catch anything before it becomes a serious issue. Especially for all the junior golfers (and other athletes) spending so much time in the sun. It is so important to make sure you’re monitoring your body – no matter how old you are or how much sunscreen you use. It really got my attention, and hoping it does the same to y’all!
He also included an image of the scar following his minor surgery.
