Big Tour win for GEL putters
Kang switches to claim Malaysian title
GEL Golf, the putting company with the distinctive blue horizontal grooves on the faces of its putters, is celebrating its first major Tour win with American Anthony Kang securing the Malaysian Open using a GEL Rego putter at the Saujana Golf & Country Club in Kuala Lumpur. Kang recorded his first victory in eight years as a pro, using a GEL Rego putter from the Paul Hurrion Signature Range, whi had been given to him by the company's local technician Shane Warde, at the start of the week after the player had been using another GEL putter. Winning the co-sanctioned event with the Asian Tour, Kang earned the biggest pay cheque of his career - a first prize of US$333,330 to turn a dream into reality. It's GEL's fourth Tour victory following American Bryan Saltus' using a GEL Topaz in Cambodia, Hsu Mong-nan (Jade) winning the Shanghai Championship Tom Stankowski clinching the 2008 Canadian Tour Championship, using a GEL Emerald. “We are delighted to be a part of the success that these four players have enjoyed around the world using our putters and we look forward to many more victories to come,” commented Alec Pettigrew, founder and managing director of Groove Equipment Ltd (GEL) Golf.
