Bubba Watson wins WGC Match Play
Watson enters the record books with 11th PGA Tour title.
Bubba Watson strolled home for the WGC Match Play Championship with a commanding 7&6 victory over Kevin Kisner.
Watson, 39, chalks up an 11th PGA Tour title and now joins Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Ernie Els and Phil Mickelson as the only players to have won multiple majors and WGC titles.
The two-time Masters champion overcame his group of four before defeating Brian Harman, Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Justin Thomas and an out-of-sorts Kisner.
"Kisner has been playing well all week but you could tell the energy was gone after his match this morning," said Watson, who moves from 39th in the world up to 21st.
"I got off to a hot start, I was so focused on committing to the shots. There were only about four or five shots for the week were I kind of blanked out, so that's pretty good over the holes we play."
Thomas, 24, had won all five of his previous matches this week and needed to reach the final to replace Dustin Johnson at the top of the rankings, but the in-form American lost 3&2 to Watson in the semi-final.
Johnson now enjoys a 58th consecutive week as the world number one.
Alex Noren beat Thomas in the third-place final with a comfortable 5&3 win.
