American golf pro from Michigan fires STAGGERING 17-under-par 55!

Andrew Ruthkoski from Michigan has made fleeting appearances on the PGA Tour and the Korn Ferry Tour in his career, appearances we all wish we were good enough to make.
However, Ruthkoski achieved something incredible at the weekend which may never be matched. He shot a round of 55 at Oak Ridge Golf Club in Muskegon.
Finishing at around 10 pm on Sunday, he was playing a casual round with his twin stepdaughters when he went on an unprecedented run.
As reported by The Detroit News, the 39-year-old chipped in for an eagle on the 1st hole and he almost made an ace on the par-3 2nd hole. He added his second eagle of the day on the par-5 4th hole with an approach from 211 yards to five feet.
At 8.45 pm, his stepdaughters returned their golf carts but Ruthkoski's friend Dave offered to drive him around for the rest of the evening as he felt history was on the cards.

He made more eagles on the par-4 5th and 9th holes to play the front nine in 11-under-par. Coincidentally, this score was the course record at Oak Ridge which Ruthkoski held himself.
Ruthkoski admitted he was nervous as he was about to break 60, which is one of the great accolades in the game. He didn't manage any eagles on the back nine, but he did add another six birdies.
Alongside his friend Dave, he played the back nine in about an hour. As you can see above, Ruthkoski posted his scorecard on Instagram with the caption, "Shot 55 at Oak Ridge Golf Course yesterday. Had visions of 59 in the past but have never thought of shooting 55."
After posting this historic score, Ruthkoski revealed that he intends to play in qualifiers for the John Deere Classic, the 3M Open and the Rocket Mortage Classic in 2022.
If he can replicate just an ounce of his form from the weekend in these tournaments, we can certainly expect to see him back on the PGA Tour.
