Viktor Hovland could not wait any longer for Patrick Cantlay at The Masters!
Viktor Hovland sends Patrick Cantlay a very clear message about his pace of play at The Masters.
Patrick Cantlay might be one of the best golfers in the world but his pace of play proved something of a turn off for golf fans tuning in to the final round of The Masters.
Cantlay was playing alongside Viktor Hovland in the penultimate two-ball at Augusta National on Sunday and judging by the Norwegian's actions he had seen enough by the time he reached the 13th green.

Instead of waiting for Cantlay to walk past Rae's Creek and come onto the green after having played his wedge shot to 40 feet, Hovland just got on with his own third shot from the left of the green.

Jeez

DP World Tour pro Eddie Pepperell commented on the video footage.
"Jeez [eyes]", tweeted Pepperell.
Golf social media sensation Paige Spiranac was also disgusted by the pace of play in the final round.
Paige tweeted: "One thing I really hate is slow pace of play."
One thing I really hate is slow pace of play

But rather than point fingers at Cantlay, Spiranac was more inclined to believe the AimPoint putting technique used by Hovland was the biggest contributor to slow play at Augusta.
Hovland had been in contention for his first major title but the wheels quickly came off when he made a double bogey at the 6th.
He ended up signing for a 74 to finish tied seventh, while Cantlay, who is also still waiting for his first major, fared one shot worse en route to a tie for 14th.
Jon Rahm and Brooks Koepka who were in the group behind were seen waiting around just about every hole as Cantlay took his time to putt out.
Many golf fans consider the pace of play did not help LIV Golf's Koepka in his bid to win his first Green Jacket as he is typically a player who likes to get on with things.
Koepka certainly didn't look happy on holes 15 and 16 as he waited for Cantlay to finish out.
He even hit out at the 'brutally slow' group in front after his round.
Rahm went on to win his first Masters title and second career major on what would have been Seve Ballesteros' 66th birthday.
Here's a look at how golf fans reacted to Cantlay's pace of play in the final round... there are literally thousands of comments on Twitter tonight:
Decent chance Brooks Koepka wants to do ungodly things to Patrick Cantlay right now. https://t.co/eXYBQ0Juhg

Can’t help but think that Cantlay’s ungodly slow pace of play tampered with Hovland’s flow from the third round finish. Just so hard to stand around and wait that long for someone to hit every single time.

Patrick Cantlay singlehandedly extending Masters coverage and raising slow play to a new art form. #masters #augustanational #Masters2023 #MastersSunday #masterstournament #pgatour #pga

Wouldn't blame Rahm or Koepka if they just start firing balls right over Cantlay's head now. Waiting on pretty much every shot. Painfully slow.#themasters

Patrick Cantlay's slow play is absolutely atrocious. Slower than erosion #Masters2023

Jake, what time is sunset in Augusta? Cantlay is playing so slow. Will they finish?

If Patrick Cantlay was a 14 year old Chinese amateur he’d have been stroked for slow play by now.

And there goes Patrick Cantlay, the human traffic jam, traipsing up to the eighth green with all the hustle of a three-legged turtle.

I wonder how much Patrick Cantlay’s slow play is affecting Brooks

Cantlay wasn't the only slow coach out there on the final day, though.
Butch Harmon, the former long-time coach of Tiger Woods, hit out at the pace of play of amateur Sam Bennett earlier in the day.
"He's taking too long here," said Harmon as Bennett and his caddie mulled over a short four-foot putt for par on the 9th.
"He just needs to rely on what got him here in the first place."
Bennett went on to finish inside the top 20, which was an incredible achievement.
But the majority of golf fans were in agreement with Uncle Butch:
Cantlay and Bennett are brutal slow. Shocking to watch

Cantlay and Bennett, complete embarrassments, killing Rahm and Koepka with their asinine slow play.
