How much Hideki Matsuyama and every player won at The Masters
Hideki Matsuyama claimed his first major title at Augusta National and took home some serious prize money.
Hideki Matsuyama held his overnight lead at Augusta National to win his first major title at The Masters on Sunday and not only did he take home the green jacket, but also the huge cash prize that comes with winning the iconic tournament.
It certainly wasn't the most thrilling of final rounds, with none of the top players making a fast start to put Matsuyama under pressure, but things looked as though they might get interesting when Xander Schauffele found an extra gear.
The American had started slow and it looked like he'd put himself out of contention, but four birdies in a row on the back nine got Matsuyama's attention, especially when the Japanese star put one in the water at the par-5 15th to mark the first of three bogeys in his closing four holes.
Schauffele was unable to capitalise and all but handed the title to Matsuyama at the par-3 next with a triple-bogey 6, which also cost the World No.5 a serious amount of money, dropping from solo second to a tie for third.
Matsuyama went on to claim a one-stroke victory over Masters debutant Will Zalatoris, with Matsuyama taking home a whopping $2,070,000 for the winning share, with the total prize purse set at $11.5 million.
