Jin Young Ko ties ANOTHER record ahead of KPMG Women's PGA Championship
Jin Young Ko enters the second major of the LPGA Tour season with another new record.
Jin Young Ko has once again added her name to a golf record as she prepares for this week's second LPGA Tour major of 2023.
Ko, 27, has been one of the biggest stars in golf over the past few years. The South Korean first won on the LPGA Tour back in 2017 as a non-member at the LPGA KEB Hana Bank Championship.
The following month, she decided to accept LPGA Tour membership for the following season. She then quite quickly won the ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open in 2018, becoming – at the time – the only player since 1951 to win in their debut as an LPGA Tour member.
The following year was when Ko showed just how dominate she could be, winning four tournaments – including two majors.
Since then, she’s now racked her win count up to fifteen in total and is the current World No. 1.
This week, Ko is with the rest of the LPGA Tour in New Jersey at Baltusrol for the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. But before the tournament’s even started, she’s already tied another record.
With a total of 158, Ko has matched the previous record set by Lorena Ochoa for most total weeks as World No. 1.

“Yeah, it's an honour people saying with Lorena and me in same sentence,” Ko told reporters on Wednesday. “It makes me happy, but also it makes me humble. It's great to honor, to stand with Lorena.”
With a solid result this week, Ko has the chance to set a new record and stand alone for most weeks as World No. 1.
Ko already has two wins so far this season at the HSBC Women's World Championship and the Cognizant Founders Cup.
It marks her seventh consecutive season with an LPGA Tour win.
Ko will tee off Thursday for the first round of the second LPGA Tour major of 2023 alongside World No. 2 Nelly Korda and No. 3 Lydia Ko.
