Max Homa responds after PGA Tour pro calls for LIV Golf to get OWGR points
Outspoken PGA Tour pro James Hahn has called for the LIV Golf Invitational Series to be given Official World Golf Ranking accreditation.
It looks as though the debates around the LIV Golf Invitational Series will continue for a little while longer, after a judge set a tentative trial date for January 2024.
It's no doubt a huge blow for the LIV players who had hoped that this mess would have been sorted out before next year's FedEx Cup Playoffs on the PGA Tour.
Though they might have the odd bit of cash which will soften the blow of this disappointing news.
In the meantime, it's fair to say that LIV Golf players are at a disadvantage in navigating a pathway to golf's four majors because of the lack of ranking points.
Unless you are exempt, the players who have signed up for the series face the prospect of sliding down the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) and into obscurity.
Experts have suggested that the most important aspect of this whole saga is not the antitrust lawsuit but whether or not LIV can get OWGR accreditation.
The governing body that awards world ranking points have recently announced changes, which you can read about here.
One PGA Tour pro, James Hahn, clearly has strong opinions about LIV.
Hahn has had an interesting season on Tour. He called out a fan for eating chips too loudly during the third round of the Wells Fargo Championship at TPC Potomac.
He bashed the PGA Tour after they announced their 2023-2024 schedule and was duly ripped on social media. He later doubled down.
Now he's posted this about LIV:
Why does it matter how many holes is required to earn World Ranking Points. If a tournament has 54 holes, shouldn’t the points be reduced by 25% to reflect the difference. Why is it all or nothing?

Even Max Homa is getting involved:
Does that mean 36 holes get 50% points? And 18 holes get 25%?

Yes! It’s like the difference between 6 minute abs and 7 minute abs. More abs for more effort.
