WATCH: Keith Mitchell clutch birdie to win Honda Classic
Mitchell sank a 15ft putt to win his maiden Tour title and gets the nod of approval from Rickie Fowler.
The Honda Classic is always a tough tournament to predict and this year was no different, with Keith Mitchell claiming his maiden PGA Tour victory on Sunday with a very classy putt.
With two world class players in Brooks Koepka and Rickie Fowler hunting for victory, the pressure was mounted on Keith Mitchell's shoulders as he stood over a tricky 15 footer for birdie on the 18th green. The 27-year-old showed the composure of a Tour veteran as he stroked the left to right putt into the middle of the cup to card a three-under 67 and his first PGA Tour victory.
The world No 162 looked down for the count after bogeying the first two holes of his final round, but he regained his form and climbed the leaderboard with birdies at the 12th, 13th, 15th and 18th to finish nine-under for the tournament.
Fowler and Koepka had gone under the radar all week, but with Fowler making birdies at 15, 17 and 18 it formed a three-way tie for the lead. Watch below as Keith Mitchell held his nerve to sink his birdie putt and Rickie Fowler sent a nod of respect straigth down the camera, looking very pleased for Mitchell.
