Jason Day testing unseen before golf club ahead of Arnold Palmer Invitational
PGA Tour star Jason Day is dabbling with a brand new TaylorMade Zero Torque prototype putter ahead of the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Jason Day has been spotted testing out a brand new TaylorMade 5K-ZT (Zero Torque) prototype putter ahead of this week's Arnold Palmer Invitational on the PGA Tour.
The update was provided by GolfWRX's eagle-eyed equipment team on the ground at famed Bay Hill.
Day, 37, has been using his trusty TaylorMade Itsy Bitsy Spider Ghost Limited Red putter for a number of years on the PGA Tour.
But perhaps change is in the works since former World No.1 currently ranks a lowly 156th in strokes-gained putting (-0494) after the first two months of the season.
Day has for years been regarded by analysts as one of the best putters in the world.
He finished the 2024 PGA Tour season ninth in SG: Putting (0.541).

The Australian has played some solid golf so far this year but has only registered one top-10 finish with a T3 at The American Express in January.
He is winless on the PGA Tour since capturing a 13th PGA Tour title at the Byron Nelson in May 2023.
That victory was his first in five years.

It remains to be seen whether Day does in fact put the new TaylorMade 5K-ZT prototype putter in his bag at Bay Hill this week.
But his latest data would suggest it wouldn't be the worst time, especially with The Masters just around the corner.
What is a Zero Torque Putter?
In simple terms, a zero torque putter is designed to reduce face rotation throughout the stroke.
This means that:
✅ The putter stays more square to the target line
✅ It reduces twisting, especially on off-centre strikes
✅ Golfers who struggle with consistency may find immediate improvements
Some brands achieve this with innovative weighting systems, while others use centre shaft designs or unique hosel placements.
As you can see from Day's TaylorMade 5K-ZT prototype putter below, he is testing it out with a centre shaft design.
That is a very different setup to his current heel-shafted TaylorMade Itsy Bitsy Ghost Limited Red putter.

The 2015 US PGA champion is now a free agent in the golf equipment world having previously been a TaylorMade staff player ever since he turned professional in 2006.
Day's golf bag is still very much filled with lots of TaylorMade equipment though, as you can see from his WITB below.
He is, however, signed to Bridgestone and plays with their Tour B X golf ball.
Tiger Woods is also part of the Bridgestone golf ball team.
Other brands making their way into Day's bag this season include PING and Titleist.

Day has ruffled plenty of feathers with golf fans - and tournament officials for that matter - over the past 12 months following his decision to join fashion-forward brand Malbon Golf.
He joined Malbon at the start of 2024 following a number of years with Nike Golf.
Day was recently seen rocking a rather interesting full sweatsuit groutfit for the final round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
A groutfit, for those none the wiser, is an outfit consisting entirely of grey.
PGA Tour fans lost their minds after seeing Day's Malbon outfit.
That all came a week after Day was told by PGA Tour officials to tape up the giant Malbon Golf logo on the back of his jumper prior to the third round of the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.
Day also landed himself in hot water at the 2024 Masters Tournament.
When Day rocked up to famed Augusta National for the second round of The Masters last April donning a Malbon sleeveless jumper with the words 'Malbon Golf Championship' on, the former World No.1 was asked to remove it by tournament officials midway through his round.
That was once again because of the size of the Malbon Golf lettering on his apparel.
Day will no doubt have another eye-catching Malbon outfit lined up for The Masters next month.
