Thomas wins WGC Bridgestone, labels new Titlest driver as "the s***"
Thomas bags ninth PGA Tour title, then heaps praise on his new Titleist TS3 driver.
Justin Thomas landed the ninth title of his career with a comfortable four-stroke victory at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, and then immediately heaped praise on his new Titleist big stick.
Thomas, 25, trusted Titleist's new TS3 driver to record a whopping 329.3 yards off the tee at Firestone. He even recorded a mammoth 394-yarder at the par-4 18th on Sunday just for good measure.
The world number two, who will look to defend his US PGA Championship title this week, also found 75% of the greens in regulation in Akron with his Titleist MB (5-9) and AP2 (4) irons, and Vokey SM6 wedges.
But it's the driver that is giving Thomas the most satisfaction right now, referring to the TS3 as "the s***"- which in golf slang means high praise.
Thomas has been using the driver for a number of weeks now, making one small tweak at The Open by shortening the shaft one-eighth of an inch to help with centering the hit and maximising his control.
"This club really is the s***," said Thomas.
"I liked it right away. It was a little bit faster, which everybody likes. I'm hitting it in the centre of the club and I drove it, well, I hadn't had that feeling in a while like I had this week.
"When I'm driving it well, I hit those drives like on 8 and 9 and 18 and I just swing as hard as I can and it feels like it's going to do what I want and that's a comfortable feeling, especially here at Akron or Bellerive."
