Six of the Best... Drivers under
Drive for show and save some dough...
This game isn’t a cheap one, particularly when it comes down to choosing the latest driver on the market. So if you fancy saving the pennies, especially in the build up to Christmas, here are six of our favourite drivers that will provide you with maximum distance, higher moment of inertia and exceptional value.
Titleist 909D2
This high-performance club, launched in 2008, delivers impressive penetrating mid-launch and features a Tour-proven profile that creates a low and deep centre of gravity for reduced spin, higher moment of inertia and most importantly longer, straighter drivers.
The tuned sole of the 909D2 includes optimised pockets and an internal rib for reduced vibration and solid feel. In terms of ball striking, this is not a very forgiving driver but it can be a solid and reliable driver in the right hands.
The lack of forgiveness means that this is a very workable driver, which gives the better golfer a lot of control to shape a drive with - both in terms of manipulating the height of a drive and in playing for a fade or draw.
An integrated titanium blind bore hosel design saves weight, provides solid feel, and allows for more shaft options. The factory installed SureFit Swingweight Screw helps to position the CG deep while also providing a precise head to shaft match.
Available in 9.5- and 10.5-degree in regular, stiff and X-stiff.
Best for: Lower handicap golfers who requires a modern, high performance driver that produces a mid launch trajectory with low to mid spin
Expect to pay: Around £99
