Corey Conners WITB at PGA Tour's Texas Open
Check out the PING clubs in the bag of Corey Conners following his second career PGA Tour victory.
Corey Conners narrowly defeated Sam Stevens in San Antonio to claim his second career PGA Tour title at the Valero Texas Open. With the win, the Canadian took home $1.6m in earnings, 500 FedEx Cup points and tons of momentum as he heads to Augusta for The Masters.
Conners shot 64-72-69-68 this week at TPC San Antonio's 7,438 par-72 Oaks Course and finished with a 15-under 273, securing the win by one stroke.
Conners, who's known for his clean and crisp irons, led the field in strokes gained: approach this week and in greens in regulation average with 77.78%. Conners is a PING player alongside fellow Canadian Mackenzie Hughes.
His putter, which has failed him in the past, was able to support his tidy approach shots this past week in Texas, ultimately finishing 41st in strokes gained: putting. It's as good a time as ever to have a solid putter an accurate irons as Conners and the best of the PGA Tour head to Augusta National's fast greens this week.
Off the tee the 31-year-old was just as solid, hitting 35 of 56 fairways across all four rounds at TPC San Antonio, third best of anyone in the field. He averaged 300.6 yards in driving distance and his longest drive was 361 yards which came at the par-5 18th during the final round.
