La Cala Resort announces €13.5 million construction project
La Cala Golf Resort has announced a €13.5 million construction project that will see 56 luxury apartments built.
La Cala has signalled its commitment to invest in the development of Spain’s largest golf resort, announcing details of a €13.5 million project to build 56 luxury apartments. The dramatic Harmony Development will feature panoramic terraces offering views of the iconic resort nestled between the Sierra des Mijas mountains and distant Mediterranean sea.
The project is the latest stage of a €120 million joint-venture between La Cala’s owners, FBD Leisure, and leading property developer Taylor Wimpey. More than 320 homes over six different developments have been already been constructed as part of a plan to build 1,000 homes on theresort over the next decade.
The City Council of Mijas gave the green light for construction in June, backing the continued plan to cement La Cala’s position as one of the most important tourist destinations on the Costa del Sol. The first phase delivery date for the Harmony Development is scheduled for the summer of 2022.
Director of La Cala Resort, Sean Corte-Real said: “The announcement of the Harmony Development is hugely significant. While these are extraordinarily challenging times for the local economy, we remain as determined as ever to invest in the future, and cement La Cala’s position as a bucket-list destination for golfers across Europe.”
Situated in the foothills of the Sierra de Mijas with breath-taking views of the Andalusian countryside and distant Mediterranean, La Cala Resort is a golfing mecca only 30 minutes from Malaga Airport. Three championship courses, designed by world-renowned architect Cabell B. Robinson, provide an exhilarating challenge while a 4* 107-room hotel, Spain’s leading Hydrotherapy Spa, four restaurants and multiple bars complete the La Cala experience.
Continued investment from FBD Leisure saw La Cala Resort named Best 4* Golf Resort in Spain at the 2019 International Travel Awards and best 4* hotel in both Spain and Europe at the 2019 International Hotel Awards. The resort has also received three coveted nominations at the upcoming World Golf Awards 2020.
Director of Taylor Wimpey Spain, Ignacio Oslé, said: “Despite the special circumstances that we have to live in, we are motivated to observe that there is still a real interest from the national and international public to acquire a new home in La Cala Resort. Even more so when the Resort offers a minimum density of housing, ample spaces for recreation, entertainment and sports for any family member.”
La Cala sets the standard for sport and leisure on the Costa del Sol. In addition to its three championship golf courses and hydrotherapy spa, further facilities include a FIFA-standard football pitch, running circuit, gym, tennis and squash courts. Property owners will receive a privilege card offering exclusive advantages and discounts across the resort.
