Top ten golf courses on the Isle of Man
The Isle of Man may only be 32 miles long and 14 miles wide, but there are still plenty of golf courses dotted around.
1. Castletown Golf Links
Situated on the northern tip of the isle, Castletown is a classic links course, with the Irish Sea lapping menacingly along the edge of the fairways. A course steeped in history, it features its own 'Road Hole' and is built on the site of what claims to be the oldest horse race in the world...

2. Ramsey Golf Club
Ramsey was established in 1891 - a year before Castleford, with the current 18-hole course being designed by five-time Open Championship winner, James Braid.

3. Peel Golf club
Peel is on the west coast of the isle, so prepare to battle the elements on this fearsome links course. Oh, and there are also plenty of streams, banks and gorse to contend with too...

4. Mount Murray Golf Club
Mount Murray - just outside Douglas in the south of the isle - plays a par-71 6,351 yards from the back tees. There are six par threes and five par fives to ensure a variety of challenges throughout the course.

5. Rowany Golf Club
Rowany is located on the southern tip of the isle, and it's another course that dates back to the 19th century. This heathland course also once played host to a match between Greg Norman and Nigel Mansell. At £10 for a round, it's also great value for money.

6. King Edward Bay Golf Club
Like Castleford, King Edward Bay is another course designed by Old Tom Morris. The par-67 5,221-yard course offers some of the best views on the isle, thanks to it's elevated position just outside Douglas - the isle's capital.

7. Glen Truan Golf Club
Glen Truan is the newest course on the island, but this is links golf at its finest. The Glen Truan course follows the coastline of the northern tip of the isle, just next to Ramsey. On a clear day, Scotland is visible on the horizon.

8. Douglas Golf Course
Douglas is an undulating, inland parkland course designed by none other than Alister MacKenzie, architect of Augusta National. Look out for the par-three 17th, where the elevated tee is 70 feet above the green.

9. Port St Mary Golf Club
The isle's only nine-hole course, Port St Mary is situated just next to Rowany on the isle's southern tip, and was designed by 1920 Open Champion, George Duncan. The fresh Manx-cuisine food at the clubhouse also has a great reputation.
