Schauffele reveals Scheffler got 'heckled' in the Group Chat after shock arrest
PGA champion Xander Schauffele has confirmed the profile photo of a PGA Tour player group chat got changed to Scottie Scheffler's jail mug shot.
Xander Schauffele has revealed how Scottie Scheffler was 'heckled' by fellow PGA Tour players in a group chat following his shock arrest last week.
Scheffler, 27, was arrested just after 6am last Friday as he made his way to Valhalla Golf Course for the second round of the US PGA.
The World No.1 was detained by police after he misunderstood the traffic flow situation into the golf club following a fatal collision that happened around 5am.
Shocking footage showed the two-time Masters champion being frog-marched to the back of a police vehicle in handcuffs.
Scheffler was instantly taken to jail and the Louisville Department of Corrections soon posted a mug shot of the 27-year-old.
He was booked in to his jail cell at 7.28am and released at 8.40am, meaning he was able to still compete in the second round of the PGA Championship where he went on to post an incredible round of 66.
Scheffler was charged with second-degree of assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and disregarding traffic signals.
He was due to appear in court on 21 May but his arraignment has reportedly been rescheduled to 3 June, a week before the 2024 US Open at Pinehurst No.2.
Scheffler went on to finish a respectable T8 given everything that happened to him last week.
Speaking to Barstool Sports fresh of landing his maiden major title on Sunday night, 2024 US PGA champion Schauffele explained how his US Ryder Cup teammate Scheffler was ripped in a PGA Tour player group chat featuring the likes of Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay.
Schauffele revealed how 'the boys were heckling Scottie a little bit' and how the profile photo for the group chat was changed to his mug shot in prison.

Schauffele told Barstool Sports:
"Yeah I did [speak to Scheffler]. He handled it really well, in Scottie Scheffler fashion. I mean he's a good dude. As soon as I saw it, I thought it was a prank, and then I saw it on the news and I was like 'holy smokes this actually happened'. It feels like he's going to come out okay from all of this, it feels like things are going to get dropped, I don't know, but he took it like a champ. We have a group chat with our physio, our team, our crew, it's like me, Gary, JT, Jordan, Scottie, Pat, we all share the same physio. So the boys were heckling Scottie a little bit, just enough."
When asked by the Barstool Sports team whether the group chat picture was changed to Scheffler's mug shot, Schauffele replied as he stifled a laugh:
"Obviously that happened!"
Scheffler is competing in this week's Charles Schwab Challenge on the PGA Tour, while Schauffele has elected to take the week off.
