Brooks Koepka: "Nobody really cares what I have to say... I'm not Rory"
Five-time major champion Brooks Koepka refused to do media interviews after the first round of the 2024 US Open at Pinehurst No.2.
Brooks Koepka declined the opportunity to speak to press after the opening round of the 2024 US Open.
But the American obliged Golfweek in doing a text interview instead.
Speaking to Eamon Lynch, Koepka explained that he 'just didn't feel like' talking to reporters after his opening 70 on Thursday as he feels he always gets asked the same questions.
"The lack of creativity in questions is kinda boring," he wrote.
"I know I'm not a media favourite either so it's not like anyone will notice. LOL."
Koepka even went as far as saying that nobody is really bothered what he has to say anyhow, given he's not Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy or Scottie Scheffler.
Lynch put it to Koepka that he sounded like he was having a 'pity party'.
He replied:
"No, I’m being honest. Most golf fans don’t live or die on my statements. I’m not Tiger Woods or Scottie Scheffler. And Rory. Everyone else is kind of an afterthought. I’m just not oblivious. Because that’s who I would wanna hear from. I wouldn’t be one I’d want to hear from. I’m good at removing myself from the situation and understanding as a fan."

Elsewhere in the interview, Koepka claimed he believes the PGA Tour's deal with LIV Golf's Saudi backers will get over the line.
A report earlier in the week claimed the PGA Tour have agreed terms with PIF.
That is unsubstantiated.
Koepka told the publication: "I think it will [get done] but there is too much to figure out so it won’t happen for a while.
"Deal might be signed quick but it’s gonna take a while to iron out details. Just my opinion, I don’t know anything. You might know more than me."
