With the weight now off McIlroy’s shoulders, who is to say he won't keep up his tremendous form in 2025 and win another major?
The next major is the PGA Championship, which is being played at Quail Hollow Club, a course where McIlroy has won four times during his career.
The 2026 US PGA takes place from 15-18 May.
McIlroy's first win at Quail Hollow Club came in May 2010 and was, in fact, his first win on the PGA Tour.
The last time he won there was last year in May at the Wells Fargo Championship, and he won convincingly, besting Xander Schauffele by five strokes.
