Rory McIlroy's forgotten Ryder Cup rival issues plea to Keegan Bradley
Rory McIlroy's former Ryder Cup rival Patrick Reed has issued a plea to U.S. captain Keegan Bradley ahead of the contest in New York.
Patrick Reed is desperate to run it back at the Ryder Cup and face Rory McIlroy in the biennial dust-up one more time.
Reed, 34, was involved in perhaps one of the greatest Sunday singles matches of all-time at Hazeltine in 2016.
The electric match ended the American eventually prevailing with a birdie putt on the final hole against the Northern Irishman.
Reed secured the first point of the day and Team USA ran out 17-11 winners.
Reed is now a LIV Golf player and, although it would be too much of a stretch to call U.S. captain Keegan Bradley an ally, the skipper has made it clear he won't overlook players from the breakaway tour.
"It is always on my radar," Reed told The Mirror.
"It is going to be hard for us [LIV players] to make it on the U.S. side, especially when points are based off PGA Tour events.
"Hopefully I can play really well and give myself chances to win golf tournaments out here and any time I tee it up, go out and play the best I can to show that.
"But yeah [the Ryder Cup] is always on my mind that time of year it comes around.
"Any time I can wear the red, white and blue it means so much to me, any time time the USA can go and play somewhere or for something I always up for it."
Bradley this week named Kevin Kisner as his third vice captain.
Kisner joins Brandt Snedeker and Webb Simpson as key parts of Bradley's team.
Bradley has not ruled out picking himself yet but he has pledged to flip the script on the boy's club with his captain's picks.
I will never forget Patrick Reed’s incredible Ryder Cup performance against Rory McIlroy in 2016.

Captain America put on a show that day and cemented his place in Ryder Cup history.
P Reed deserves another selection.

The current skipper was somewhat unfortunate to miss out on a pick in September 2023 when Zach Johnson decided to pick known friends Justin Thomas, Rickie Fowler and Sam Burns ahead of him.
Reed added: "So Keegan coming out and saying that he wants to put the best guys out there means it should be good.
"Hopefully we can get that cup back. Even though I was not on the team, you still feel it."
The 2025 Ryder Cup takes place over 26-28 September.
Reed will be back in action next month with LIV.
He is yet to taste a victory on the rival league but is hoping that changes in 2025.
