Wyndham Clark races to front with *course-record* 60 at Pebble Beach
US Open champion Wyndham Clark vaults to the top of the leaderboard on day three at Pebble Beach.
Wyndham Clark fired a stunning course-record 60 on day three at Pebble Beach to open up a narrow one-stroke lead over Sweden's Ludvig Aberg at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
It should be noted there were preferred lies in place so the round of 60 will not count as an official record as such.
But it is the lowest round of golf ever recorded at the famed Pebble Beach.
Clark made two eagles on the front nine en route to tying the lowest nine-hole score at Pebble Beach of 28 shots.
The reigning US Open champion then turned for home with four birdies in the space of five holes, albeit he holed a clutch 25-footer from the fringe for bogey on the par-3 12th.
Clark needed two birdies on the final four holes to post golf's magic 59 but he came up just shy of the hole with his birdie attempts on 16 and 17 meaning he needed to make eagle down the par-5 18th.
He gave himself every chance after sending a 4-iron into 35 feet for eagle on the last, but once again he came up just short with his putt.
Nevertheless it was a tap-in birdie for the Pebble Beach course record of 12-under 60.
It marked the lowest round of Clark's PGA Tour career.

Clark now holds a narrow one-stroke lead on 17-under par. Sweden's Ludvig Aberg is in second after carding a flawless round of 67.
Matthieu Pavon, who last week became the first Frenchman to win on the PGA Tour, is in the hunt for back-to-back wins after a round of 66 hauled him into third place on 15-under par.
World No.1 Scottie Scheffler holed just about nothing all day en route to a round of 70 and the World No.1 looks on from four shots off the pace.
Sunday at Pebble Beach is set for horrendous weather conditions, so we will have to wait and see what lies in store for the players.
There is speculation the tournament could move into a Monday finish.
